Journal of the VOL Community

Patricia and I have managed to clear a little area between George’s cabin and the community garden and I built a raised bed using log ends (from the 3 trees that I had to cut to allow light to the solar panels). We’ve covered it with a light “row cover” fabric and working to train the dogs, pray for us here!!, to stop digging and rampaging through the area. God willing we’ll get a little crop of pretty Russian Red Kale and some nice Italian kale for the winter.

Today, we are having our temporary guest-cat spayed. A temporary guest-cat is a cat belonging to a friend of VOL who needed their cat to be cared for for a several months. Part of the deal was that we would get the cat spayed as part of our commitment to help control the pet population at our Community and in the world at large.

Congratulations to Garry and Patricia who have officially joined us as our newest Permanent Members!!!

We drove into the VOL land today loaded down with supplies - a years worth of food for humans, and 700 pounds of food for the animals.

Two vehicles went loaded down with supplies. Das and Rose in one, and David and his friend Kevin in the other. Kevin’s truck not being a 4 wheel drive truck, we had to wait out at 2nd crossing while Das and Rose drove in with the first load. Then they came back and we loaded them up with the remaining supplies and off they went, then Kevin and David then came back out.

We are needing to find a home for one of our dogs, Anu.
